Stats

Poets publishing their "stats" (acceptance/rejection by journals) is a thing. So, for my first post, here are my mid-year stats:

  • 27 submissions/contest entries so far this year

  • 16 of those rejected

  • 4 accepted (2 already published, 2 pending)

  • 11 journal submissions still pending response: 7 submitted this year, 4 submitted last year

  • 2 local contests entered and lost (1 provided useful feedback though)

  • first submission on January 8, most recent on May 15

  • the site/journal I submitted to the most times (4) this year was Poets Reading the News (all rejected)

Content-wise:

  • writing a lot of ekphrastic poems (i.e. poems directly inspired by a visual work of art)

  • translating/working with contemporary Indonesian writers and submitting to various journals that accept translations (there are quite a few)

  • started a blog to help share my work and the thoughts that go into my creative process
